Patrick Cormack

Principal Physiotherapist Patrick Cormack graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences (University of Sydney) in 1986 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy).

He worked for 2 years at Westmead Hospital before travelling to the UK and working in a variety of private practice and public hospital settings.

After 2 years in the UK, Patrick returned to Sydney, married, and continued to work in private practice. He returned once more to London in late 1991, managing private practices based in workplaces such as British Airports Authority, Prudential Insurance and Royal Mail.

While still in London, Patrick worked for 2 years in a private practice specialising in the commercial theatre and dance industry. This work involved the screening and management of injuries to professional actors, musicians and dancers based largely in the London West End theatre district. This covered well known shows such as “Cats”, “Miss Saigon”, “Grease”, “Starlight Express”, “Les Miserables”, and “Phantom of the Opera”, “Carousel”, “Crazy For You” and “Buddy”.

Patrick returned to Australia in 1994 and completed a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science in Manipulative Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Completion of this demanding degree took one year, full-time study and earned Patrick the title of “Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist”. This title is awarded by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and recognises a particular expertise and greater competence in the management of musculoskeletal conditions.

Patrick commenced work at Liverpool Physiotherapy (later to become Prime Physiotherapy) in 1995 and became a partner, or Principal Physiotherapist, in 1998. He has remained at Prime Physiotherapy up to the present. He completed further post-graduate study at the University of Sydney in 2001, earning a Master of Health Science in Manipulative Physiotherapy.

Patrick has an interest in all aspects of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. The physiotherapy management of orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries, back and neck injuries, headache, vertigo and work-related injuries, are all areas of interest to Patrick. Of particular interest is the relationship of posture, the workplace or home environment, and injuries that result from this relationship.
